There have been a lot of speculations about the battery lifetime being reduced by Windows 7 operating system. However Microsoft position on this topic is: Battery problems on Windows 7 machines are not caused by the operating system. Tests have shown that in every case of this occurrence the battery being reported on was in fact in need of recommended replacement, but it has not been caused by the operating system – Windows 7 simply accurately detected a failing battery, meaning that the customers who have upgraded their PCs to Windows 7 just weren’t aware that they needed a battery replacement until the message from the operating system popped up (if the battery performs at less then 40% of it’s designed capacity the recommendation to consider battery replacement appears).

Experts agree that Windows 7 has enhanced security to ward off attacks on vulnerabilities in old software. But what if a money-minded online scammer can persuade you to download malware onto your PC? Social engineering attacks try to trick you into downloading and installing bot malware that poses as a useful program or video. Some attacks combine tactics, as when a scammer sends an e-mail message encouraging you to open an attached PDF file, only to trigger an exploit buried in the file that then hunts for a flaw in Adobe Reader. Social engineering ruses include using a hijacked social network account to send malware lures to friends of the owner, sending a link to a supposed video taken of a friend, and hiding a poisoned URL in a shortened link of the type commonly used on Twitter. Toss in other tried-and-true scams such as videos that instruct you to install a codec file (but instead lead you to a malware download), and phony documents attached to e-mail messages that appear to come from coworkers, and it becomes clear why Windows 7 users can’t let their guard down.

A report was released by Microsoft yesterday stating that Windows Vista greatly outperforms XP when it comes to security. The number of infections that Vista computers got was far less then XP users have faced. Still, whatever operating system you use it is always necessary to update to the latest service pack available, as it is this service packs that contain most major security modifications. That is another reason behind Vista supremacy – Vista SP completely outbeat XP SP in the subject of security configurations. For obvious reasons we can’t have any information of this kind on Windows 7, however it has been stated that Windows 7 contains a number of new important security enhancements.

Although the database is not even close to being full at the moment, it does have an option for users to give information on additional software that they tested working under Windows 7, so we expect it to be more reliable in future. You can visit this website through this link.

At last Windows 7 was officially launched today by Microsoft. Microsoft crew started giving out Windows 7 software as presents immediately after the clock showed twelve at the night club in San Francisco where technology giant’s party was taking place. After the Windows Vista failure Microsoft apparently worked really close with computer manufacturers, users and software developers while crafting Windows 7. It can be understood easily as more then 90% of the computers on Earth run Windows as their OS, so recovery after such failure was necessary for the software empire that has operating systems as its heart. What will turn out of this – we shall see, but prepare for more Windows 7 related news these coming days as all of the software world’s eyes are turned this way.

The official release of Windows 7 is only few hours away, and Microsoft launched the final version of Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor – a very usefull tool to check if your hardware and software are compatible with Windows 7. The program scans your system and indicates whether it is possible to harmlessly upgrade to Windows 7. It is too bad that this tool was released only 2 days before official release of the operating system itself, still – those of you who have preordered Windows 7 or are panning to upgrade to it, check with this tool first if it a wise thing to do.

Some of the early printscreens of Chrome OS have been leaked, and from this info we can see that it is really basic and lightweight, perfectly suiting netbooks and laptops. Should these news have any influence on Windows 7? We think they do, since PC manufacturers tend to rely more on low-cost OS to keep the prices of budget devices down (many are already using Linux for example). The direct result as we see it is the Windows 7 Starters Edition to counter this possible threat. We will try to monitor the events on this subject and keep you informed.

Many computer manufacturers have announced new versions of portable computer designed to work with the latest Microsoft operating system Windows 7. The excellent press and feedback Windows 7 is getting along with its multi-touch compatibility made PC manufacturers crazy, and it seems they decided to milk the soon-to-be-released 7 as much as possible, not to forget the system requirements for the new OS being much more moderate then power-hungry Vista. HP, Acer, Dell – it’s just the top of the list, and we expect even more companies to turn their heads to the upcoming breakthrough.
